'Bhut Jolokia' originates from the Assam region in India and is a naturally evolved hybrid of the species Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens. Many different names have come into use in the Assam region and the states bordering it, but they all basically describe the same variety (with only minimal variations): Naga or Bih Jolokia, Naga Morich, Raja Chili, Moresh, Mircha and many more.
