Cayenne is one of the most widespread chili varieties in the world and a real spice classic. Originally, the variety comes from Latin America and is sold here mainly as Cayenne pepper. However, the name is somewhat misleading, since it is not (black) pepper, but chili powder. The fruits of the Cayenne Orange ripen in a juicy orange hue. Like all cayennes, its chilies are slender and medium-sized and, because of the thin pericarp, are excellent for drying or for making a ristra, in which many pods are strung on a string.
