Leek onions botanically belong to the onions, but like leeks, they develop long white shafts and do not form onion bulbs. They are eaten fresh and are a fine ingredient for salads and vegetable dishes in summer. Flavor-wise, spring onions are delicately spicy while being less intense than regular onions. They can be harvested throughout the summer and are uncomplicated to grow. Onions thrive particularly well in medium-heavy, nutrient-rich soil with a good water supply.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Onions are not very competitive in the young plant stage, so weed hoeing is important in the first few weeks.
