The red beet "Monika" is round, smooth, uniformly colored dark red without white rings and, moreover, a so-called monogamous (single-seeded) variety from conventional breeding, which eliminates the need for singling / warping. In short, "Monika" saves work! Furthermore, this red beet variety is high-yielding and, due to its monogermity, perfectly suited for the cultivation of small-fruited, tender "baby beets", as the sowing distance can be precisely defined.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sow seeds about 2-3 cm deep (dark germinators) at a distance of 8 cm (for large fruits) or 4cm (for small fruits). Row spacing 25-30 cm. Germination in 15-25 days at 15-20°C soil temperature. Keep sowing well moist, prepare the seedbed thoroughly (weed free & fine crumbly). Never allow the seed to dry out during germination. The tender baby turnips can be harvested after 5-6weeks and should be eaten relatively soon. The large fruits (about 110 days) are very long shelf life u. extend the garden season into the winter.
