Mentha gentillis is a perennial plant that is only partially frost-hardy. It can also be kept outdoors in sheltered locations with good winter protection. Under ideal conditions, it grows to a height of 60 to 90 cm, has a toothed leaf edge and is upright and spreading. It flowers bright purple from July to September.
