The stems of Golden Self Blanching are rather yellow-green and not as strong in flavor as those of Giant White, but much less labor-intensive. This variety ripens around August and is, as the name suggests, a self-blanching variety.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sow the seeds 1 cm deep in seed trays from spring to fall and keep them moist. The seeds germinate after about 7 - 14 days. At the 2-4 leaf stage, plant in blocks 25 cm apart in the growing area. Keep well watered and fed to encourage rapid growth. Remove any side shoots that form at the base of the plant. To harvest, cut the blanched celeriac at ground level.
