This eggplant variety also thrives very well in cooler climates. The fruit can usually be harvested 2-3 weeks earlier than other varieties. The Orient Express eggplant is fast-growing, compact and robust.

Not frost resistant
The ideal sowing time is from January to mid-May. A sunny spot outdoors is also possible from mid to late May. The warmer the plants are, the better. The temperature should not fall below 14 °C. The plants only grow to a height of 50-60 cm outdoors in warm conditions. In a conservatory or greenhouse, the plants can be sown earlier and grow to a height of approx. 1 m. The fruit yield can be increased by topping the bearing side shoots. It is best to pre-soak the seeds overnight in lukewarm water and then sow them. Germination takes place at 20 °C after 7-10 days. The plants can be pricked out after three weeks.
