Description

Evangelina produces slightly red-skinned, elongated sweet potatoes. The skin fades to pink during storage. One tuber weighs an average of 300g. The flesh is deep orange in color, the beta-carotene content is 40% higher compared to other varieties. The taste is sweeter than other varieties. In tastings, Evangelina was rated the best variety, although the yield was lower. It is also the variety with the greatest ornamental value: it has beautiful wine-red shoot tips that make it a valuable and versatile garden and container plant in addition to its usefulness. 120 days to harvest, can also be cultivated for longer, in which case record-sized tubers grow (up to 3 kg).

Growing tips

The sweet potato must grow warm and frost-free, preferably in a 9-12 cm growing container. As soon as there is no longer any risk of frost, you can plant out the plants in a sunny spot in a bed or in large containers with a capacity of at least 10 liters. The planting distance should be 40-50 cm. Sweet potatoes love light and warmth and can be cultivated in a greenhouse, on a balcony or terrace or in the garden. Sweet potatoes thrive best in light but enriched soil. Further growing tips for the sweet potato species.
