Description

Although hard and thorny on the outside and with jagged leaves, the artichoke hides its soft heart inside, which is highly prized as a delicacy. Its sweet-smelling purple flower is also particularly beautiful.

Growing tips

Pre-cultivation is recommended when growing, as the artichoke loves warm and sunny conditions. It is also worth pre-germinating the seeds in water for a day. After the last frost, the artichoke can then be moved to a bed or pot on the balcony. It is important to provide sufficient water and remove old parts of the plant. The bud should be harvested when the bracts spread slightly or their tips turn brown.
