The discworts are a genus of plants belonging to the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae). The name of the plant comes from the shape of the fruit. They are herbaceous perennial plants or shrubs. The species leek discwort (Peltaria alliacea) is a delicious wild herb with a cress-like flavor, whose leaves smell like leeks when crushed.
Origin:
Southeastern Europe, Middle East and Central Asia
Germination does not occur until the following year if sown from April - cold germinator. Wintergreen. After flowering in June, the discwort loses its leaves. After pruning it sprouts again. Harvesting of leaves and briefly also of flowers is thus possible almost all year round. Good ground cover, frost resistant.
