A Thai basil with compact growth. Overall, the plants remain smaller than normal Thai basil. The leaves are also smaller, but more numerous on the plant. The leaf color is deep dark green, the flowers and flower stems purple. The leaves taste of aniseed, with a spicy undertone. A very tasty variety to sprinkle chopped over freshly cooked Asian soup. Pimps up even instant soup immensely - a sweet basil from Thailand. 'Queenette' is a very aromatic Thai basil, which is also very good in an ordinary cucumber salad. It also goes well with desserts.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Basil is very sensitive to the cold. The heat-loving plant needs plenty of water in summer. It can be grown from seed from the end of March. The seeds should not be covered with soil, as it is a light germinator. When growing perennial varieties, basil must be overwintered indoors during the winter months.
