The 'Canada Red' rhubarb has large, attractive leaves in a rich green. They grow on strong, shorter stems. They delight with their aromatic, tart taste and are rich in vitamins. It is characterized by the unusual red color on the inside and outside of the stalks. In the kitchen, it provides the basis for numerous delicious recipes. In the garden, it is an ornamental thanks to its decorative leaves and attractive cream-colored inflorescences.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
This bushy, herbaceous plant thrives best in medium-heavy, deep and well-watered soil. Rhubarb sprouts from root rhizomes in early spring. For propagation, individual root rhizomes are cut off and replanted. When the first flowers appear, you should remove them to encourage vegetative growth. Remove stems at the root collar. Rhubarb can be harvested for 6-7 years, after which you should take a cultivation break of 6-7 years.
