Red-stemmed. Rich in vitamins. Mild, slightly acidic taste. Sheds its leaves and retracts into its roots in winter. Perennial.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Sow thinly, prick out into individual pots 2-3 weeks after emergence and then plant out in the open. Needs a lot of fertilizer. Harvest from the 3rd year. Do not cut off the stems, but twist them off carefully. Do not harvest all the stalks, but leave some on the plant. Not suitable for eating raw! Leaves are not edible. Remove the flowers in June/July as they weaken the plant.
