Tiger Cross (also called 'Marrow' in England) surprises with uniform fruits that are dark green to cream-colored striped and produce high yields. The fruits are thicker than those of other zucchinis and ripen early. The flesh is white, very tender and aromatic when harvested young (approx. 20 cm). Suitable for stuffing due to firmer skin. Edible flowers. Resistant to mosaic virus.
F1 Hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination period 8-10 days at 18-25°C. Harden off before planting out. Likes warm, sheltered locations. Sensitive to frost. Several plants can pollinate each other. Harvest regularly so that new fruits continue to form. Fertilize and water regularly. Observe crop rotation. Home-grown zucchini seeds are strongly discouraged because they can produce the toxic bitter substance cucurbitacin. Mixed cultivation with borage promotes pollination. Pumpkins and zucchinis of the same species can cross-pollinate, making zucchinis bitter and inedible or poisonous (due to so-called curcurbitacins).
