Striato d'Italia forms cylindrical fruits about 25 cm long, green marbled with slightly light accentuated stripes. Firm whitish flesh. Vigorous, book-shaped growth.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination period: 7-14 days at 17-25°C soil temperature. After germination, place in light. Harden off before planting. Zucchini prefer nutrient-rich, humus-rich, warm soil in a sunny, sheltered location. Keep soil constantly moist. Sensitive to frost. Several plants can pollinate each other. Harvest regularly so that new fruits form continuously. Fertilize and water regularly. Follow crop rotation. Home-grown seeds are strongly discouraged for zucchini because the toxic bitter substance cucurbitacin can form. Mixed cultivation with borage promotes pollination. Pumpkins and zucchinis of the same species can interbreed, zucchini can become bitter and inedible or poisonous (due to so-called curcurbitacins).
