Dark green, round, slightly ribbed, aromatic fruit. Harvest early, as the skin is then soft (about 10-15 cm). Firm flesh, popular for fillings. Open growth. Little susceptible to powdery mildew. Particularly rare, old variety. Germination after 7-14 days at 18-25°C. Do not eat bitter tasting fruits!
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Since zucchini readily affected by powdery mildew, it is recommended to stagger sowing. Harden off before planting. Likes warm, wind-protected locations. Sensitive to frost. Several plants pollinate each other. Harvest regularly so that new fruit will form continuously. Fertilize and water regularly. Follow crop rotation. Home-grown seeds are strongly discouraged for zucchini because the toxic bitter substance cucurbitacin can form. Mixed cultivation with borage promotes pollination. Pumpkins and zucchinis of the same species can interbreed, zucchini can become bitter and inedible or poisonous (due to so-called curcurbitacins).
