Description

Winter leek. Slow growing, medium green and sturdy. For overwintering. Tolerates heavier frosts, stems relatively slowly in spring. Sow in May for spring harvest. Good flavor. Germination after 10-20 days at 18-20°C. (From Sativa).

Non hybrid

Frostproof

Growing tips

Thrives in a sunny or semi-shaded place. When planting out, insert about 10 cm deep into the soil. Harden off beforehand if necessary. By mounding the white shafts will be longer. Fertilize in August for the last time, otherwise the winter hardiness will suffer. In case of bare frost and very cold weather, cover the beds with fleece. Good for soil health by loosening the soil from the leek roots. Observe cultivation break (about 3-4 years).
