Description

If the mountain leek feels at home, it grows 10 to 45 centimetres in height and forms dense clumps over time. In cold winters, it withdraws completely into the ground before sprouting anew in spring. Four to nine leaves then appear on each plant, which smell strongly of garlic when crushed. Like chives, they can be used fresh in salads and sauces.
