Very large-grained Styrian beetle bean (fire bean), also suitable for industrial processing, from the breeding of LVZ Wies. Vigorous growth with abundant, red flowers and black-purple speckled, well swelling grains. Excellent taste. Medium-late to late maturity. Popularly grown as an ornamental due to its red or red-white butterfly flowers. Use as very young pods or as mature bean seeds. Drying is possible. Always cook beans, as they are slightly poisonous when raw.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Horst sowing with 6-8 beans (spacing approx. 10x10 cm per stalk (spacing approx. 80x90 cm). Hardy, undemanding and grow up to 4 m tall - trellis useful. Sunny to partial shade, keep moist. Good as privacy screen on balcony and terrace. Direct sowing in the open, germinate even at cooler soil temperatures. Also suitable for harsher sites. Water well in dry conditions.
