Phaseolus coccineus A red-flowering fire bean. Blooms profusely and is therefore not only a "bean", but also an ornamental for the garden. The pods are green and can be eaten like runner beans, i.e. when the seeds have not yet formed. A few pods should be left to ripen in order to harvest the beautiful colorful seeds. These can then be used like grain beans in winter. They are very large.
