The 'Splendens' carnation attracts everyone's attention with its flowers. Armeria maritima 'Splendens' (bot.) is not a carnation in the classic sense, but with its fantastic flowers, this lead-root plant is no match for carnations. This cushion-like plant, known as the beach carnation, presents itself magnificently from May to June. Carnation is an evergreen plant that is not only attractive during the flowering season. It is suitable for rock gardens and heather beds and decorates borders and containers. This variety delights gardeners with its early flowering time and lush blooms. Its pink flower balls consist of cup-shaped flowers that attract numerous insects. Armeria 'Splendens' grows up to 15 cm tall and up to 20 cm wide. The perennial Armeria maritima adorns every garden and shows its best side on stone walls, between stone joints or on the roof garden. The green-red foliage harmonizes wonderfully with the flowers. The leaves are grass-like and narrow. Armeria maritima 'Splendens' provides a decorative green surface even in the colder months. Up to twelve specimens fit on one square meter. Over the course of time, the beach carnation develops a cushion-like surface. It covers bare patches in the bed and provides a charming color accent. The cute flowers are eye-catching and decorate house entrances or balcony boxes in planters. Armeria maritima 'Splendens' is great in combination with other spring bloomers, delicate grasses, ferns or columbines. A full-sun location is important for the 'Splendens' sea campion. The ideal substrate is well-drained, dry to sandy and mineral. If the plant lover cuts off the faded shoots, this will ensure that the carnation will continue to flower beautifully. Cut back in the fall. Splendens' does not need any special protection in winter.
