"Mammoth Red Rock" is a traditional, very popular, hardy cabbage variety dating back to 1889. It forms large, densely leafy heads weighing up to 3 kg with dark red, firm hearts. The colorful, vitamin-rich heads are delicious cooked or raw in salads. Red Drumhead is particularly popular because it retains its beautiful deep purple color when cooked.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Sowing can be done from April in pre-cultivation. Sowing depth should be approx. 2 cm. From the end of May, when frost is no longer expected, the young plants should be singled out. A row spacing of 45 x 60cm and a planting distance of 10cm is required. As red cabbage is a heavy feeder, it makes relatively high demands on the substrate. A humus-rich, nutrient-rich, heavy loamy soil is ideal. This cabbage variety grows excellently in a sunny location. Red cabbage requires a constantly moist substrate, which is why regular watering is necessary. Even fertilization is also recommended.
