Description

The 'Whangaparoa Crown' squash is a traditional, open-pollinated variety that originated in New Zealand. It takes about 17 weeks to mature until harvest. Since it is not cold-hardy, this heat-loving plant needs a sheltered spot in your garden.

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

When sowing, plant the seeds about 2 cm deep in the soil. Allow for a wide row spacing of 200 cm in the garden bed to give the plants plenty of room. Be sure to protect the young plants from low temperatures, as this variety cannot tolerate the cold.
