Description

Safari" dwarf bean seeds are a late-maturing variety with strong, vigorous growth. It produces very fine pods that are carried high on the bush. The pods are round, stringless, straight and dark green and are around 12 cm/4.7 in long. Safari is also known as the Kenya bean and is highly resistant to disease. This bean family is sensitive to frost and can only be sown in warmer weather.

Growing tips

Early seeds can be sown under glass at a temperature of 16°C/61°F, in 8 cm/3.1 in deep pots or modular trays filled with sowing soil. Sowing outdoors can be done from May onwards 5 cm/2 in deep in the growing area. Sow 2-3 seeds 20 cm/7.9 in apart in rows of 45 cm/17.7 in. Seedlings sown under glass should be hardened off gradually before being planted outdoors at the end of May at the above-mentioned intervals as soon as there is no longer any risk of frost. Directly sown seedlings can be thinned out as required. Water regularly in dry weather.
