Description

The 'Aurea' carpet yarrow is suitable for any garden and is known for being easy to care for and undemanding. The plant initially grows as a somewhat compact cushion and then spreads out in a carpet-like manner. The deep yellow carpet that forms looks beautiful and cuts a fine figure in the garden. Achillea tomentosa 'Aurea' can also be used for green roofs. The 'Aurea' carpet yarrow is also an ideal perennial for rock gardens, rocky steppes, or in troughs and bowls. This plant needs dry to fresh and loose soil to develop optimally. Fertilization is not necessary for this undemanding perennial. Too many nutrients in the soil cause the carpet yarrow 'Aurea' to become bare and topple over during the flowering period. The carpet yarrow 'Aurea' feels most comfortable in a sunny location and loves warmth. From June to July, it stretches its deep yellow flowers toward the sky. Numerous small ray flowers cluster together in basket-like inflorescences. During this time, this perennial is a magnet for insects and, together with other flowering plants, brings life to the garden! The flowers give off a pleasant and intense fragrance. The 'Aurea' carpet yarrow also looks attractive in winter, as it is hardy and evergreen. Another advantage is the heat resistance of Achillea tomentosa 'Aurea'. Despite its hardiness, the plant does not like too much moisture. This plant does not require any special care from the gardener; cutting back the faded stems is sufficient but not absolutely necessary.
