...you never stop learning! ... Yesterday, a friend who loves gardening brought me these quinces...
Up until now, I knew there were apple- and pear-type quinces, both of which are usually only enjoyed cooked, baked, or as jelly, etc...
Now I’ve learned that there are also Russian apple quinces, which apparently come from Crimea...😳 ...When ripe, these can be eaten raw, just like an apple! 😳...I was skeptical at first, but these things have a heavenly aroma—insanely delicious! -😋😋😋
The “Aromatnaya” apple quince (also known as Krymska Aromatnaya) is a Russian quince variety that, unlike conventional quinces, is sweet enough to be eaten fresh right off the tree.
Key Characteristics
Origin: Native to southern Russia and the Crimea region.
Flavor: Tender, juicy flesh with a sweet, quince-like aroma reminiscent of pineapple and citrus fruits.
Harvest time: The yellow, pear- to apple-shaped fruits ripen in October.
Growth Habit: Grows as a small tree or shrub (about 2 to 3 meters tall); is hardy, self-fertile, and easy to care for.
Uses: Can be eaten raw or processed into jelly, jam, and compote like regular quinces.

Na, dann sollte man sich den doch zulegen. In der Türkei gibt es auch die roh essbaren. Sortenname weiß ich aber nicht.
Interessant 😊
