The red meier is a millennia-old spinach plant and was already detected in earlier pile dwellings of our ancestors. Red meier, also called vegetable amaranth, has been displaced today by spinach, although it contains much more iron and calcium than the latter. The undemanding amaranth somewhat resembles the garden alfalfa and provides a tasty spinach. Fresh leaves can be harvested throughout the summer. It was often grown in farm gardens in the past.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Harvest young shoots and leaves constantly. If we want to gain seed, we let the plants bloom. Once they are half-high, we lightly pile them to increase their stability.
