Variety for sprout harvest from December to March (root harvest from mid-September). To sprout without cover crop. Forms heavy, firm, white-yellow shoots at low temperatures. Specialty with a delicate flavor. In summer (before sprouting), chicory continuously provides fresh lettuce leaves with bitter notes.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sprinkle the seeds only lightly with soil and press down, as they are light germinators. Later, separate them to a distance of 10 cm. Prefers good, loose, deep (taproot), low nitrogen garden soil in a sunny position and sufficient water. Harvest beets from mid-September with optimal diameter of beets 3-5cm, remove leaves, leave only heart (2cm). Pile up the roots for storage (min. 1 week resting period) in a cool room and protect them from drying out. Then place closely together with some moist soil upright in a bucket and cover darkly with another bucket, for example. At 12 to 18 ° C can be harvested after 3-5 weeks (and with staggered forcing until February / March) multiple heads of chicory.
