Forms red-white, medium-firm heads. When forcing with topsoil or sand, the heads become firmer. Root harvest in October, forcing can be done throughout the winter. Chicory harvest December-February.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Possibly low nitrogen deep soil in a sunny location (If the nitrogen content of the soil is too high, beets will form too large and will only form loose heads when sprouting). Germination after approx. 1 week at approx. 16°C. Beet harvest from Octoberber with optimal beet diameter of 3-5cm, remove leaves, leave only heart (2cm). Pile up the roots for storage in a cool room and protect them from drying out (min. 1 week, you can keep the roots cool until you want to drive them). Propagate with cover soil from November to February: place roots in a container about 30-40 cm deep, cover with moist sand or soil (10cm) and let them sprout in a dark room (important for tender shoots with little bitterness) at about 15-20°C for 3-5 weeks. Further harvesting is possible with careful harvesting.
