Why do some varieties appear twice?

A large part of our encyclopedia is user-generated. The biggest advantage: the plant database grows very fast, and thanks to the hardworking community we can already provide data on more than 3,000 varieties. One drawback: sometimes it's impossible to avoid errors slipping in. Most of the time this doesn't happen out of bad intent, but because users accidentally create a variety twice or under a slightly different name.

We work with our Fryd moderation team constantly to fix such errors and improve the quality of the database. Here's how you can help:

• Check whether a variety already exists before you create a new one
• Assign it to the correct species
• If you find incorrect data on a plant, suggest changes on its detail page
• Become part of our volunteer moderation team
