A "real" old purple carrot, light yellow-white inside, long and tapered. The variety is somewhat stronger in flavor than the other colored varieties. The ingredients also differ somewhat from those of the orange varieties. For example, the content of vitamins C, B1 and carotenoids is significantly higher. The violet color is due to anthocyanins. This substance is also found in blue grapes, black currants, blackberries and red cabbage and naturally protects the human body from radicals. Caution: The dye can also stain slightly during processing. Spanish Black has purple flowers that appear in the second year.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination 14-40 days at 10-18°C. Sandy-loamy, deep, loose and stoneless soil. This variety thrives very well in loamy soils. Carrots are medium feeders and do not tolerate fresh manure. Use only mature compost for fertilizing. Keep moist during the germination period.
