Kohlrabi "Blankyt" (Brassica oleracea var. gongylodes) is an early cultivar that is suitable for cultivation throughout the season. It produces round tubers that are covered with a purple, smooth skin and reach a diameter of 7-8 cm/2.8-3.1 in. The flesh of this variety is sweet, tender and has a pleasant texture. This variety is resistant to cracking and lignification of the flesh and the formation of flower stalks. The purple kohlrabi variety will become an original, attractive and colorful accent on the vegetable patch. It is ideal for eating raw, but can also be eaten cooked, e.g. in soups.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Due to its short cultivation period, kohlrabi is a good pre-crop, intercrop and post-crop. An even water supply is important for good tuber formation. Drought or uneven moisture promotes lignification. You should take a cultivation break of 3-4 years from other cruciferous plants. Harvesting takes several weeks, as not all tubers ripen at the same time.
