...Today, a little bit of smart-aleck talk on the topic of #forgottenCropPlants... ...Who doesn't know purslane as a pesky weed? (Which you could actually just eat...☺ ) ...and NO! Purslane is NOT related to postelain! ❗ ...We’re talking about @sommerportulak-18375, which was already mentioned as a medicinal plant in a Babylonian text from the 8th century BCE... ...In any case, this delicious leafy vegetable contains omega-3 fatty acids, among other things—definitely recommended for vegans! 👍 ...but aside from that, this green stuff tastes absolutely delicious 🐷🐷🐷 and is pretty easy to grow in the garden... Recipe: Briefly blanch the purslane with its thick, tender stems drain, marinate with garlic, O'range* or O'citron*, salt, and pepper, and serve lukewarm with fish, meat, or whatever you like... *O'orange and O'citron are oils made by pressing olives and citrus fruits together...

...das ist übrigens der wilde Portulak, auch dieses "Unkraut" ist selbstverständlich essbar! 😋

I have lots of purslane. I leave it as a living mulch in the bed. I have only tasted it raw out of curiosity once I found it was edible. I will have to try it cooked. Thanks!

Auch bei uns wuchert er gerade und die ausgerissenen Pflanzen dienen als Mulch. Roh hab ich ihn auch nicht in bester Erinnerung, aber ich werd es mal blanchiert probieren. Danke für den Tipp!
