Before the real heat sets in, we trimmed our mixed privet hedge today. Topiary is allowed, after all, and as homeowners, we’re responsible for keeping the sidewalks clear. The sparrows chirped in protest, but quickly calmed down. We won’t trim the height until October. There’s a lot of clippings.
It’s a lot of work, but I wouldn’t want to be without it. It absorbs noise and dust, provides shade, and is so valuable to the birds. It screens off our property and creates a pleasant microclimate when it’s hot. A little oasis amid all the hustle and bustle. 😣🥰

Das sieht aus wie Efeu 🧐
Den vorderen Teil haben Efeu und wilder Wein übernommen. Der lange Teil ist überwiegend Liguster. Da ist aber auch Efeu drin, wilder Wein, Brombeerranken und Holunder.
Also sozusagen ein Bollwerk gegen die Umwelt. 👍😀
Na eher gegen den Verkehr und manchen Mitmenschen.😉

Die Ligusterhecke dürfte etwa 60 Jahre alt sein.
Was eine Hecke des Lebens. Wunderbar. Davon sollten sich „Lebensbäume“ mal ne Scheibe abschneiden.
Lass die Vögel meckern. Das Dankeschön ist oft nicht hörbar. Ist ja gar nicht machbar so eine prächtige Hecke ohne formschnitt
