While most people are probably sick of strawberries by now, mine are just starting to ripen—and even then, very slowly—like most things, they really take their time... Well, on the one hand, it’s a sad wait, but on the other, there’s such joy when something finally shows up—like the many pepper buds this year—will they reward me with real fruit? And finally, kohlrabi heads are starting to appear, and—for the first time ever—it looks like there might be fennel 😍 The mirabelle plums are developing well, the cherries give me hope—well, the one tree... The cherries on the other one are still so small that I don’t think they’ll actually turn into “real” cherries. On the other hand, the Boskop is full of apples, and I’ve discovered another serviceberry in the garden. This time a Canadian one—and it’s loaded with fruit. I’d better cover it with netting 🐦 😉 🐦
