The columnar apple 'Jarle' is one of the exclusive fruit trees introduced by the Krämer nursery in Detmold. This tasty variety is an extremely robust and aromatic apple. 'Jarle' is a juicy and sweet apple variety that is crunchy and firm and has a balanced acidity. The fruit is medium-sized. The apple has a smooth, shiny skin. In a test conducted by the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture, the 'Jarle' columnar apple was voted the best-tasting columnar apple. The intense red color of the fruit shines from afar and tempts you to eat it fresh. The columnar apple 'Jarle' is an ideal tree for small gardens thanks to its space-saving growth habit. It grows slenderly upright, columnar and reaches a height of two to three meters. This makes it ideal for planting in containers on terraces or balconies. It is also a real highlight in larger gardens thanks to its shape and bright red fruit. The 'Jarle' crab apple is a 2009 cross between the popular and sought-after varieties 'Arbat' and 'Red River'. It has numerous positive characteristics that will impress any gardener. Its large, dark green leaves have a beautiful red autumn color and are highly resistant to leaf diseases such as scab and mildew. This columnar apple is frost-hardy and insensitive to late frosts. The tasty fruits, which ripen from September to October, are suitable for immediate consumption. There are numerous varieties for further processing. Storage is also easy. The columnar apple 'Jarle' requires a sunny to semi-shady location and well-drained, humus-rich garden soil. Even with columnar fruit, it is advisable to plant a second apple as a pollinator to increase the yield. All common apple varieties are suitable for fertilization. Just like all other columnar apples. For example, the 'Silver Pearl', 'Arbat' or 'Red River'. You can expect abundant yields from the 'Jarle' crab apple. This requires regular and proper care. Columnar fruit is not suitable for pressing juice in barrels or storing the fruit by the crate in the cellar. The harvest is good. However, the columnar fruit is intended purely as a snack fruit. Planted as a solitary plant in the garden, the columnar fruit creates interesting accents in the garden with its eye-catching shape. The gardener can achieve both privacy and fruit by planting a fruit hedge.
