The Weeping Heart (Dicentra spectabilis / Lamprocapnos spectabilis) 'Alba' is a striking perennial with a symbolic character. Its outstanding feature is its heart-shaped flowers, which radiate an extraordinary elegance. They sit in clusters on the overhanging branches and gave the perennial its name. A wax drop-like teardrop emerges from the tip of each flower. The flowers of the (bot.) Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba' are snow-white. They unfold their full splendor during the flowering period from May to June, sometimes as early as April. Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba' is part of many classic cottage gardens and makes a beautiful companion plant. In semi-shady herbaceous borders, it is a good neighbor to ferns, astilbes, silver candles, wood aster or cranesbill. When planted in small groups of three to five plants, this impressive perennial comes into its own just as well as in a solitary position. It can be planted wonderfully under light groups of shrubs and at the edge of shrubs. Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba' grows perennially, herbaceous, clump-forming and overhanging. The plant reaches a height of 50 to 70 cm. The Weeping Heart 'Alba' is long-lived and likes to remain in the same location for many years. In addition to the gorgeous flowers, the strongly feathered, delicate and bluish-green shimmering leaves are a decorative ornament. This is why the decorative effect of this perennial is not lost after flowering. Thanks to its foliage and the contrast between the leaves and flowers, the Weeping Heart 'Alba' can be combined wonderfully with a wide variety of plants.
