The Summer Lovers ® 'Patio Red' raspberry is an extremely compact growing variety, making it ideal for growing in pots or containers. It thrives in a sunny to semi-shady spot in well-drained soil or sandy soil. The raspberry should receive at least half a day of sunlight so that the fruit can develop its full flavor.
F1 Hybrid
Frostproof
Plant out all year round in frost-free soil / perennial perennial, hardy - Summer Lovers 'Patio Red' is a shallow-rooting plant and hardy - tolerates temperatures down to -28 °C (up to climate zone 5) / bears on annual shoots / thornless / cut back to a few handbreadths after harvest / A pot with a minimum diameter of 30 cm is recommended for growing potted raspberries from the 'Summer Lovers® Patio' series. The pot should also have a few drainage holes to prevent excess water from accumulating in the pot. The raspberry tends to like it moist, so the soil in the pot should be checked regularly. If it is dry a finger's length below the soil, a watering can should be used. It is best not to water over the leaves of the plant, but directly onto the soil. If the pot is in a planter, it should be emptied after half an hour so that no excess water remains in the pot. This could otherwise cause the roots of the plant to rot. Waterlogging should therefore be avoided at all costs. In addition to regular watering, potted raspberries also need additional fertilizer every 7-14 days, for example in the form of liquid fertilizer in the irrigation water. Potted plants in particular are dependent on their owners providing them with additional nutrients, as they need these for flower and fruit formation.
