Description

Melon 'Retato Degli Ortolani' is an early to medium ripe sugar melon variety originating from Italy. It produces almost round fruits weighing up to 2kg. The skin is green with a net pattern and turns to yellow-brown when ripe. Very sweet flesh, which smells deliciously of melon and has a bright orange color. In Italy, it is often eaten with Parma ham. The cantaloupe melon was probably cultivated in the area of today's Iran about 5000 years ago. From there, it spread throughout the Mediterranean region. In ancient Rome it was a popular fruit variety.
