Description

Ethiopian round, orange-red egg fruit, with slightly larger plants and fruits (approx. 5 cm/2 in) than Rouge de Turquie. The fruits can be harvested green for consumption. The fruits can be eaten both green and dark orange when ripe. Vigorous and less demanding of warmth than S. melongena. To prevent the orange fruits from tasting bitter, they should be processed at temperatures of max. 150°C/300°F.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Germination in 15-18 days at 20-25 °C/68-77°F. Preferably protected cultivation, do not plant outdoors until mid-May. Ensure sufficient fertilization. Break out the first fruits to allow the plants to develop better vegetatively. Further cultivation tips for the eggplant species.
