The eye eats with - particularly strikingly shaped and colored variety from Italy. From the upright extensive heads protrude the pointed leaves, the green-red stripes resemble devil's ears. This pickling lettuce is easy to care for and very productive. The outer leaves are harvested at a time, the heart remains standing and provides further harvests for several months. This variety is hardy and vigorous in both summer heat and cold wet weather. The red striped leaves produce a crunchy salad with hearty flavor. Care: Optimum germination temperature at a constant 10 - 18 °C. Germination period approx. 6 - 12 days. Sowing depth: 0.5 - 1 cm. Sow in thinly spaced rows. Picking lettuce thrives in any humus garden soil in sunny and semi-shady places. Uses: Especially suitable for salads. Gardener's tip: "Devil's Ears" are a true ornamental vegetable that beautifies the kitchen garden. Plant this attractive variety as a border, in larger pots, in rows or across. The unusual effect will delight you.
