I bought a small sugarcane plant this spring. It grew quite well over the summer. Now my question is, how do I overwinter it properly? I don’t really have room inside for such a large pot. I’m thinking of just dividing it. I’ll bring a small part indoors, and the rest will be pruned back a hand’s width and put in the basement. If both attempts fail, I’m hoping at least the cuttings will take. A few are sitting in a glass of water on the warm windowsill, and I plan to plant some more directly in the soil. And then I’m hoping that at least some of them will take root. Does anyone here have experience with sugarcane?
