This year, more blue butterflies have been visiting our garden than I’ve ever seen before. Today, a female thistle blue butterfly once again feasted on the nectar of the alpine aster (Photos 1 and 2). Every year, the hedgehog fly also visits the aster amellus (Photo 3). Photo 4 shows two striped bug siblings who are gradually developing their red-striped adult coloration. About two weeks ago, I was able to observe an adult female for several days right in this wild carrot seed head. Now I’ve read that the striped bug guards its eggs inside the fruit cluster! You’d never guess such things about a bug 😊. Photo 5 shows the German wasp from the front. The grove hoverfly loves the nectar of arugula (Photo 6).
