Tonight we finally had our first sweet corn. We baked it in the oven wrapped in aluminum foil. It was delicious. The @goldenbantam sweet corn was a bit firmer, but very sweet. The red @zuckermaissweetred-260417 was nice and juicy and just as sweet. It’s amazing that the kernels developed so evenly this year, even though we planted only five plants of each variety in a row right up against the house wall. Last year we weren’t so lucky—the small ears had only a few ripe kernels here and there, even though they were grown in a block. Our tall @morado-112711 is taking its time. The male flower is slowly emerging at a height of about 5m. Will it still manage to produce ripe ears? Unfortunately, a few plants have contracted corn smut.

Wunderschön! :-D und dieser rote Pudel-Kolben! Lustig.
