@Alex&Sempi hit the jackpot! 👏
▪︎RAPUNZEL, THE WHOLE TRUTH▪︎
@Babett1, @Lisa_die_Imkerin, @Sonnenkind, @Moira, @Pedro, @Alexandro, @Nina_aus_dem_Norden, @Aljonka,
A little smart-aleck commentary to solve the riddle:
...lamb’s lettuce, field lettuce, Sunnewirbele, Nüssli, Lämmli...and Rapunzel are the most common names for this valerian plant...it’s undoubtedly one of the healthiest winter salads around—no matter what you call it...
...what very few connoisseurs of this nutty little salad are likely to know is that the name RAPUNZEL comes from the fact that the edible bellflower (Campanula rapunculus, see the photo from my garden!) looks quite similar to lamb’s lettuce!
... I discovered the seeds in 🇮🇹 (Raperonzolo) and sowed them a few years ago. I don’t find the plant’s flavor particularly thrilling, but this perennial produces beautiful blue bell-shaped flowers all summer long.👌
Quote from Wikipedia: The root of the Rapunzel bellflower is fleshy and thickened and can be prepared as a tasty root vegetable, similar to celery (Apium graveolens) or beets. Raw root slices and leaves can be used in a salad. In the Middle Ages, the plants were collected and cultivated in gardens. In Alsace and Switzerland, the species was still cultivated between 1906 and 1929. Similar to lamb’s lettuce (Valerianella locusta), the rosette leaves were also harvested in winter. Accordingly, the plant is a typical cultural relic in the wild.
The Rapunzel bellflower also has—or had, in some cases only regionally—the following additional German-language common names: Fürwitzlein (Alsace, Saxony), Rapünzel (Mark Brandenburg), Rapünzelin, Rapünzle (Bern), Rapünzlein (Zurich), Rapunzel, and Rübenrapunzel.

Dafür kann ich Salzgurken!😇
Wenigstens hat das die letzten drei Jahre geklappt. Ich hatte aber auch schon das selbe Problem wie Du. 🫣
Mal schauen wie es dieses Jahr läuft. Ich sammel gerade geeignete Gurken.

Da wär ich nie drauf gekommen - wieder was gelernt! Besonders schön finde ich ja den Namen aus dem Elsass bzw. aus Sachsen: Fürwitzlein….hihi
