A small harvest early in the morning before the heat kicks in again 💚 My neglected strawberry beds are surprising me 😃 Despite (or maybe precisely because) all the weeds are shading the soil and reducing evaporation, the vegetables are growing well. The rutabagas are already a nice size, and the fennel is ready to harvest. It has a very intense flavor because it’s not as juicy 🙈😅 The carrots in the raised bed are growing great (I’ve watered them three times so far). And the snow peas are also ready to harvest; I’ve picked them, laid them in the shade, and will later take the time to remove the pods from the stems and shell them. 💚

Der Fenchel sieht zum Anbeißen aus! 😋

Wann merkt man, ob Fenchel holzig ist? Ich würde nämlich immer eher zu früh ernten, um das zu vermeiden??
