Daffodils belong to the family of amaryllis (Amaryllidaceae). They grow between 5-80 cm/2-31.5 in tall, are perennial and have their flowering very early. One of the best known species is the daffodil. Winter hardy. There are 30-40 species, but about 24,000 cultivated forms. The flowers are white, yellow and orange.
Herkunft:
Mainly the western Mediterranean
Loosen the soil and plant with the tips pointing upwards. Store in a cool, dry place until planting. Do not allow the soil to dry out after planting. Site requirements Dependent on species and variety. The sap is poisonous and can cause skin irritation, so it is best to wear gloves when handling - especially when dividing the bulbs. A few species also flower in fall and winter. Fertilize in spring. Propagate via daughter bulbs.
