Description

Tastes characteristically sour and, in addition to oxalic acid, contains vitamin C and iron. The fresh leaves are used as an ingredient in salads, for making frankfurter sauce, as a tea or in sorrel soup. Increases the body's defenses, has a blood purifying and detoxifying effect. The leaves can also be used as food for small animals. Suitable for freezing. Grows to a height of about 40-90 cm. Perennial.

Light germinator. Germination after 10-15 days at 15-20°C. Keep seed moist. Will spread in the garden if not cut before seed set. Winter hardy.
