Edible chrysanthemum is a non-hardy variety, so in our latitudes it is rather cultivated as an annual. It develops shoots up to 100 cm high with fleshy, deeply tamed leaves. Its colorful, mostly yellow flowers bloom from June to September. Used fresh, the 10-20 cm long shoot tips are added to salads or steamed as a vegetable. When cut young, they are also good for adding to baby leaf mixes. Buds and flowers are also edible.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Shallow sowing, because light germination. Cover only lightly with soil. Chrynsanthemums need little care, fertilize the plants annually (in a perennial cultivation) and avoid waterlogging. You can cut off the faded flowers, so you extend the flowering period. The sunnier the spot, the more intense and lush the flowering. However, this will shorten the flowering time. Chrynsanthemums can also be overwintered and cultivated perennially.
