Description

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the growing and fruiting period, but avoid waterlogging. Fertilizer: Fertilize regularly with a balanced, organic fertilizer to support growth and fruiting. Pruning: Cut back overlong shoots to maintain the columnar shape and keep the plant healthy. Old wood can also be cut out. Protection and care: Frost protection: The columnar currant is hardy, but a layer of mulch can provide additional protection. Pest control: Keep an eye out for pests such as cherry vinegar flies, garden beetles and small currant aphids and treat them with biological agents if necessary. Good neighbors: Blueberries, cress, lemon balm and marigolds are good neighbors that can support the growth of currants.
